We had five players go to Stowmarket
for this competition, Tommy Tancock, Samuel Tearn, Robert Parker, Jos Goddard
& Connor Barnard.
Tommy U25kg - 3
Wins 0 Loss - Gold
Tommy U27kg - 1
Win 2 Losses - Bronze
Another fine display of
judo from Tommy, taking the Gold in his own weight category and Bronze in the
weight above. Tommy defeated one of the best young players in the country at
this weight to confirm his position as a leading contender for next years
National Championships.
Samuel - 2
Wins 2 Losses - Bronze
This was Samuel's first
competition away from the club and he put on an excellent display of judo,
particularly his foot sweep techniques that drew admiring comments from several
other coaches.
Robert - 3
Wins 1 Loss - Silver
Robert was unlucky not to
take the Gold in this category which saw him drawn against his team mate Jos.
Some excellent combination judo brought Robert 3 fine wins against a good bunch
of lads.
Jos - 3
Wins 1 Loss - Gold
This was Jos' first
competition back after breaking his thumb and his timing was a little off, but
he did well to take the Gold (on a count-back). This was a good warm-up for Jos
in readiness for his first taste of National Championship judo in October.
Connor - 2
Wins 1 Loss - Silver
Two strong wins from
Connor, who is now starting to look a lot more dominant in his contests. Could
have taken the Gold on another day, but still a good display. As with Jos, good
preparation for the National Championships in October.
Regards,
Allen.
