We
had two players make the trip to Walsall for the British Championships,
Jos Goddard & Connor Barnard.
Jos:
0
Wins 3 Losses
Connor:
1
Win 2 Losses
As
you would expect from the British Championships, this attracted the very best
U12yr talent from England, Wales, Scotland & N. Ireland. Unfortunately both
our boys were slightly overawed by the occasion and didn't perform perhaps as
well as expected, but experience like this at this early stage in their careers
is going to be a big help to them when they come back next year! Jos made some
very untypical errors during the day, but it is sometimes a very fine line
between winning and loosing - Jos had the eventual Bronze medallist up on his
toes at the very point of throwing him but couldn't find the last
few millimetres to finish and ended up getting thrown
himself!! Connor did well to pick up a win and looked impressive in this
contest, making the most of his "in your face" style of judo. He
knows what he needs to work on over the next few months and I expect him to
make a considerable impact in next years British Championships.
